If the vehicle is stuck in heavy traffic during very hot weather, temporarily disabling the automatic start-stop system may help maintain continuous cooling.
Drivers can also extend the life and efficiency of their vehicle's air conditioning system by adopting a few simple habits. Whenever possible, the vehicle should be parked in the shade. After entering a car that has been parked in direct sunlight, the trapped hot air should be released before relying on the air conditioner. Windows should remain closed while the air conditioner is operating, and the entire air conditioning system should be inspected during routine vehicle servicing. These simple measures reduce the load on the system, improve fuel efficiency, and ensure a more comfortable driving experience throughout the summer months.
